Sold Secure Diamond rated: Hiplok DX | ETA

2022-05-28 02:39:22 By : Ms. Shirley Qian

A new class of cycle lock has entered the bike security market. Sold Secure, the independent organisation that tests and grades locks, has added Diamond to its existing Gold, Silver and Bronze ratings. Locks are graded based on their ability to resist attack by a thief.

Guy McCafferey the Sold Secure Lab manager told bikelockwiki.com: “Sold Secure Diamond Products offer attack resistance against a higher complete tool list (aimed at preventing the highest motivated attacks)”. For comparison, the Sold Secure Gold rating offers: “theft resistance against a higher selected tool list (aimed at preventing dedicated attacks).”

At 1098g, the Hiplok DX is one of most lightweight diamond rated bike locks and its distinctive ‘clip ride system’, it’s easier to carry than the average lock.

We have a Hiplok Dx diamond rated cycle lock worth £80 to give away. Simply leave a message below and let us know what bike you’d use it on and we’ll pick a winner next week.

I’d use it to lock my 5 month old TREK FX2 used for my daily commute, my current lock – although it looks the part (Knog Bouncer) is only rated as Bronze protection. Thank you for giving everyone the chance of winning another great prize!

My daily commuting workhorse Ribble Audax deserves one of these to help keep it safe please?!

A heavyweight solution to light fingered criminals

My lovely classic Ernie Clements racing bike would love a decent lock

I would use it on my Elops 940e and actually cycle to work…even in the rain. I have been too scared to leave it locked with the two d locks as police have noted it would get stolen. This new Hiplock seems like a game changer! I just don’t have the money to buy it.

My son has moved to Bath with an electric conversion bike – this would help him keep it safe.

Would love to use this on my Trek bike.

On my Brompton, on the rare occasions I need to leave it outside!

I would use it for my ebike which I use for shopping and hence gets left a lot on streets

I’d like to upgrade from my Gold rated bike lock!

(it’s a Gazelle Orange, btw)

Living in Cambridge, a secure lock is as essential as round wheels. This looks ideal.

This would be used on my Trek Domane. It took so long to arrive so I’d like the security of knowing the ride is safe.

On my Scott Sub Tour eRIDE 20…

I’d love to use this on my moustache ebike! every time I lock it up I start sweating!!

On my beautiful bobbin which I take pretty much everywhere

Diamonds are forever.. Am hoping the Giant Escape is too…

Got a Ribble Aero that would love one of these bad boys 👌

Definitely would use this on my steel Ribble cgr which is my commute bike to & from work

I’d use it on my commuter bike – a single speed Genesis fortitude (great for taking off-road short cuts on the way home). I work in construction in central london so have site visits to get to all over London. I always cycle to them but locking your bike up at Oxford Circus always feels like you’re trying your luck! Every time I return to where it’s parked and it’s still there it is a miracle. I could relax a little more with a diamond rated lock like this!

A case of Lock, Stock and Bicycle

York is well known as a cycling city, it’s also known for the high rate of cycle theft! My Surly Disc Trucker would appreciate the security of this lock!

Love the size of this. As a vertically challenged cyclist most normal sized locks don’t fit on my bike, so this would do just the trick!

I would use it on my ETA insured decade old Globe Vienna. It would be more likely thieves would saw through the bike to steal the lock.

This would help secure my road bike. Probably the only opportunity I’ll ever get to own a diamond!

I’d use it on the Ribble CGR I’ve just ordered through the cycle to work scheme. It looks a bit short so I would test it and maybe buy a bigger lock so that I can bolt my bike to a tree (I’m a forester 😀)

I would love this for my Trek hybrid bike to make sure it still at the station when I come back from my commute into London.

I’d love this so I can nip to the loo without worrying if my bike will still be there!

A compact lock makes it harder to get certain tools into the space in order to prise it apart. The downside is that it won’t go round larger objects.

Would work great with my mobility scooter

I’d use it on my Cannondale Treadwell 3 Remixte

Wow! brilliant bike lock. This would keep my beautiful classic 1998 Claud Butler safe and sound

Would love one of these to keep my new bike secured when I lock it up in town!

From Hiplock with love, diamonds are a cyclists best friend, yes please

Something to keep my Flux Noprobllama safe on my commute.

I need this more than most as I live in Oxford, where the 2nd most profitable industry is bike thievery 🙁

Ah the joys of cycling in Cambridge. This would be fantastic!

Who does not need a good lock? Even cheap bikes get stolen if they are an easy target. Thank you

This would be great. Super secure and not too heavy. I would use it on my Specialized Hybrid which I use for local trips and errands, when I have to lock and leave the bike, as well as on longer rides.

I worry constantly about my Paul Hewitt bike when I have to leave it for only a few minutes. This wonderful lock would certainly put my mind at rest.

I’d give this to my son to use on whatever bike he gets to replace the one that was stolen last night 🙁

On the front wheel of my ebike conversion. That is where the engine is. The rest of the bike is worthless.

I’d use it on my van moof.

Diamond secure AND lightweight? Yes please for my cycle commute hybrid workhorse

Yes please as I need to keep my Van Nicholas Amazon Rohloff safe

This sounds just the job to keep my bike secure and my mind at ease.

One of my biggest fears is having my bike stolen. I have never had a bike stolen, but while I’m away from it, I’m always worrying that when when I return, I might find that my treasured steed has gone.

Mine’s something by Giant. Can’t remember what exactly but I’d love a new lock as some scrotes tried nicking it from the station on Saturday.

I’d use it on my old (1997) GT Zaskar that I now use to get to Asda for my shift. Owned from new, it would break my heart to have my lovely old bike pinched.

Every day I manage to keep my bike is another 20 miles I am not doing in the car

I would use it on my ETA insured decade old Globe Vienna. It would be more likely thieves would saw through the bike to steal the lock.

I would use it on my Surly Long Haul Trucker which I use for touring (usually in France). It’s a great bike & I’d hate to lose it.

A really good lock is desperately needed for my ebike!

Looks to be a great bike lock. My road bike is a 1988 Clements metalic purple racing bicycle still in great order for short journeys often to the biodiversity conservation sessions that we do locally on common land removing Cherry Laurel and in the summer Himilayan Balsam.

My cannondale bad boy would love one of these!

great for locking my 2 bikes together

I’d love to win this bike lock, which I would normally use on my Dawes Mean Street bike.

But for Munro bagging trips up to Scotland it could be useful to secure my Trek mountain bike after cycling up some long land rover track to the bottom of a remote hill somewhere!

This would be perfect protection for our pegasus pro tandem, especially as its now its electrified so even more desirable

Daily on my all purpose Thorn XTC. It’s elderly but not so old that no one would pinch it!

I would use it in Cambridge, cycle theft capital of the UK, on my Specialized Sirrus bike.

I’d use the lock to secure my Trek top fuel mountain bike to my car for when it’s out of sight.

If its that versatile then I would use it on all my bikes, depending which one I am on at anytime, to keep it safe and secure.

I’d use it on the bikes which I ride most often – a Roberts Audax Special which was my present to myself for a big birthday 20 years ago and a Hetchins which has carried me on most of my rides of 100 miles or more.

My Amazon Rohloff tourer, which has to be left out of sight if I take a cafe break. Sometimes it’s compromise between bike security and my need for cake.

i would use the lock on my new EZEGO E BIKE

Marin Presido with 8 speed Nexus hub commuter hybrid, it has an oil-free carbon fibre belt drive 😊

Put me down for one of those please!

I would use this on my Brompton and would use the bike more if I had a really good lock.

Hi, I would use this lock on my Enigma Ecroix as well as on my Raleigh E_Bike commuter. Thanks for offering this up as a prize.

I could use one of these, better than my old padlock and chain – that said something is better than nothing!

On my 1992 21 speed, 25” framed Raleigh Pioneer, modified with numerous upgrades for practicality and ergonomics including (amongst others) a Spiderflex saddle, Olights front and rear and a Swytch Pro kit.

That’s a great step forward for bike locks. I’d be using it on my Cube road bike for cafe stops.

Would use it to secure my Radon Cragger, then wipe the mud off my face and pop into a cafe for a well deserved post ride coffee

I’d use it on either my lightweight Trek road bike or my Ridgeback Tourer

Our railway station bike park is the UK No 1 hotspot for bike theft. Would welcome this lock for increased peace of mind.

At nearly 73 years old my daily ride is an A2B electric bike, the bike helps me keep fit and this lock would protect my bike, keep up the good work.

What a neat lock. That will definitely put off those with thieving intentions, and also satisfy my insurer. Ha !

Oh yes please. I would so love one for my bike, so I can sleep at nights when on tour. Diamonds are forever, and so is this Diamond Sold Secure lock. 😇🙏🙏

A heavyweight solution to light fingered criminals

Would love this on my Trek FX2 – sometimes even 2 good locks aren’t enough (I learnt this the hard way with its predecessor!)

I’m up for some serious lock action… my current ones don’t really cut it. My titanium bike (16years old) never even leaves my sight when I’m using it for fear of theft.

I’d use it on my Specialized hybrid I use to commute and run errands on. The good road bike never, ever gets left unattended!

I’d use the lock on my Giant MTB.

This would enable me to get my bike insured.

I would use it on my Giant Roam bike. I would lock it to my ladder so no one stole it. The ladder, that is…

Looks good and handy you can clip it to your belt. Beats having it clang around the handlebars sometimes. For an Orbea Carpe!

Diamond and carbon belong together. Securing my bling with some bling.

What use it against a portable angle grinder as no thief would waste time picking the lock till you can stop that form of attack not worth it

Having lost two bikes to thieves in recent years I would welcome this.

Looks the business – would be nice toi keep my Giant safe

Perfect to secure my self build hardtail mtb.

A diamond lock would be this girl’s best friend – for my precious Volt e-bike

I’d buy that for a dollar!

I would use it on my N+1 bike – the one I have yet to buy

I would use it if I had to leave my Condor Fratello unattended. (I try not to as I’ve had two bikes stolen in London in the past.)

Id use this on my trek FX3

Lock n load! My early 90s road bike with an increasing degree of newer components! Steel is real!

I would use it on my crossfire e-bike – really need the best lock available for e-bikes

My trusty Paul Hewitt touring bike deserves the best lock after all the thousands of miles it has carried me

Would be great for my Scott Contessa Speedster – Cambridge and London daily. Lock looks excellent……. I’m not a winner…. but worth a try!

My Dawes Galaxy would love to feel safe and secure with this lock.

This locks great to me.

On my Giant hybrid. About 20 years old but a real workhorse that I would miss hugely if ever stolen

Would love to use this on my new bike (late Christmas/early Birthday present). Please
